Posted by Chaya C
Fall Wreath.jpg

1,000 Nights Anniversary Card

Posted by Jennifer

When fellow OttLife Blogger Autumn asked me to create an Arabian Nights-themed card to celebrate her anniversary with her boyfriend, I was extremely flattered. It was a project with a challenge that I looked forward to.The theme was inspired by the middle-eastern part of Nick's heritage. Autumn used a Pinterest board to share some images that inspired her, then we got together so I could ask her some questions and get a better feel for the project. I gathered some samples of the new handmade [Read More...]

A Seahorse Themed Thank You Card

Posted by Jennifer

Since buying my die cut machine I’ve been re-invigorated to keep creating cards. Knowing that I wanted one of my next cards to feature a seahorse theme, I headed out to take advantage of a great craft store sale and fill the gaps in my cache of materials. Having the seahorse in mind, I was excited when I came across a collection of colored jewels. The way they were arranged in the packaging, and the varying sizes and aquatic colors, were a natural inspiration for undersea bubbles. When creating [Read More...]

The Little Bookmark

Posted by Jennifer

It's been a few years since I last dabbled with polymer clay  (I made a set of Halloween miniatures that I bring out every year). I've been wanting to play with the clay again and had been looking for the right project when I came across instructions for a bookmark from polymer clay artist Donna Hiatt in the April 2012 issue of Polymer Cafe. This project was particularly appealing because it can be made by someone at any experience level. I adapted the construction a bit and used different sized [Read More...]

Accordion-style Mother's Day Card

Posted by Jennifer

This accordion-style Mother's Day card was adapted from an article by Gretchen Goetz, Arts and Crafts Examiner for Examiner.com.Because I was creating this card for my mother, the butterflies and color scheme came easily. She was thrilled with the last card I gave her so I looked to it for inspiration. Like that card, the artwork in this card was primarily created with rubber stamps and colored pencil. I also die cut some custom shapes and used similar embellishments as before. The Examiner.com [Read More...]

My 1st Week with My New Die Cut Machine

Posted by Jennifer

Excited just barely describes how I felt while I waited for UPS to deliver my new die cutting machine. I had seen infomercials on TV and passed various machines in the craft stores. I thought they looked like a lot of fun but I didn't buy one for years. I finally bought one after I started seeing so many beautifully designed handmade cards that were elevated to a whole new level by the cleanness of their construction thanks to die cutting machines.Being an artist and a natural with computers and [Read More...]
