Bulb type P
The OttLite® 25 watt replacement bulb delivers the right mix of brightness and contrast to bring true colors and comfortable clarity to your world so you can enjoy your time even more. You’ll see colors accurately and fine print and details with ease under this unique low heat, low glare illumination that helps reduce eyestrain.
The output of a 25 watt OttLite bulb is roughly equivalent to that of a 100 watt incandescent bulb. So, they use about ¼ the amount of energy for the same amount of light. However, it's not just about energy-savings, it's also about the quality of the light. Click Here to learn more.

Not long lasting and hard to find
I didn't use my Ott-Lite as frequently as I though I would. It may have had 25 hours of use. When I tried to turn it on, it would not light up. In taking it out, in cracked. I've tried several stores, including JoAnn's, where I purchased the lamp, but they do not carry a 25 watt plug in bulb. I really can't afford to pay $25.00 plus shipping for one light bulb. Has anyone seen this bulb anywhere else more reasonably priced?

Not natural light, looks florescent. Casts a harsh, bluish light that is not at all warm.

These bulbs last a long time, however, it is getting harder and harder to find them in local stores (like Micheals and JoAnns and Hobby Lobby)...but I think it is because they are encouraging the use of the newer screw-in type bulbs. The 3 stores above often offer Ott-Lite products at 50% off or better. But for this lamp I have I will have to buy them online, but $14 is better than $20. My only concern with some of these types of light is that they get too warm. I have several other ottlite products and the portable flip stand with a brick type a/c adapter, well, that one gets very warm at the 'brick' power supply. I have a couple of those. I also have 2 flip style battery operated units, and I have to be careful what kind of batteries I use in them as they 'pop' batteries easily. Other than those issues, ottlite's provide great 'realistic' illumination for indoor use, I use them every day and they have lasted a long time!

Just look for it!
I disagree with the last post. The bulb is available at many retailers including Amazon, Joanns and independent dealers. HOWEVER, the manufacturer does offer the lowest price by far.

Lamp specific bulbs - crap. Bulbs only sold by manufacturer (monopoly) - bull crap. P.O.S. bulb is out of stock - priceless.
