great light!
This lamp gives great light, both for tasks (sewing) and for indirect light to illuminate a room. I bought it several years ago, and am so pleased with it I've just purchased another. It is handsome, sturdy and stable, and the light is directed down, so doesn't shine in ones eyes.
I am puzzled by other reviewers' comment that it's difficult to turn on and off, and I wonder if they have a slightly different model than I do. It's extremely easy to flip the switch just behind the head of the light.

Major Flaw
While I truly like the design and lighting this lamp provides, it is extremely difficult to turn on and off. It is so difficult that I often need to use a pair of pliers to turn it on/off.
So if you do not have a lot of strength in your hand/fingers and/or you suffer at all from something like RM, I would encourage you to pass on this model.
