Flimsy Engineering
As the above writer said, "The lamp is topheavy". So I installed two heavier lead weights beneath the stand. Problem fixed.
The second item is the screw tensioner for up and down adjustments. The factory screw is too light weight to hold up the lamp/bulb! I took out the flimsy plastic/brass screw and replaced it with a bolt, 2 washers, and a nut. Now it works very well.
You people at Ott Lite need to hire some GOOD mechanical engineers!

Not well balanced
I purchased this lamp as a portable to take to craft workshops. This lamp is designed poorly. It falls over easily due to its top-heavy configuration. I am not pleased with this item.
